Optimization, when enabled, is an algorithm that tries to obtain a full coverage with minimum, or at least much reduced, number of swaths. Optimization follows the swath / AOI Intersection Calculation.
The Optimization constraint applies to a given Area of Interest. It allows defining optimization criteria to cover the Area.
SaVoir provides three Optimization Modes, selectable through menu Calculate/ Optimization ...

Coverage of Croatia in 15 days with 18 ICEYE satellites, using Stripmap Left and Right modes, and selecting only Descending passes.
